Our Favorite Finish
Many clients ask us what our favorite paint finish is. Well, that’s an easy question for us to answer! We have recently fallen in love with the ceramic matte finish (you can learn all about finishes in our blog from last week).
Most manufacturers have their own version of ceramic matte paint but we currently use Porter Paint’s Hi-Hide. This type of finish is perfect for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, game/kids rooms, and hallways.
When you have your walls professionally painted, don’t ask for a lot of shine-or sheen as they call it in the painting industry, because light will reflect off the walls causing it to be very bright. And the higher the sheen, the more imperfections will show…meaning that if your dry wall has seen better days, all those dents and knicks will be quite obvious.
A great quality about ceramic matte paint is that although has a low sheen, it is actually very easy to clean. So don’t fret when the toddler gets carried away with those crayons over your living room wall paint!
You get the hide-ability of a flat paint but the washability of a paint that has a lot more sheen to it. With Ceramic Matte Paint, you have the best of both worlds!
Dirt and stains wash off easily
Matte finish has the durable quality of an eggshell finish
Superior burnish-resistance
Retains its appearance longer than other paints
Easier application
Excellent hide and coverage
Surprisingly low odor
Now to break the technicalities down for you: ceramic beads are used in conjunction with a high quality 100% acrylic resin to create a hard, smooth surface that is extremely resistant to stains, burnishing and abrasion. Ceramic microspheres take the place of conventional extender pigments (such as clay, silica sand, etc.)…and it is this process that makes up Ceramic Matte Paint!
Don’t hesitate to ask us any questions you may have when picking out the paints for your next project!
